The two closest airports are Oakland and San Francisco. Oakland is smaller and much easier to navigate around in. If you have a choice, fly into Oakland. It's an hour (or slightly less) drive to Petaluma. SFO is a little over an hour. Both have airport buses that go to Petaluma and other Sonoma County towns. You can also fly into San Jose but it's a good two hour drive and there are no buses. Sacramento is about an hour and a half away, with no buses. There are several small airports in the area, including in Santa Rosa and in Petaluma, but they do not have commercial flights. Southwest Airlines flies all over the country and their flights to Oakland tend to be the least expensive around. Pretty much all the airlines fly to SFO, OAK, or both.
Sonoma County Airport Express has two routes. One goes to the Oakland airport, the other to SFO. They stop in Petaluma and Santa Rosa. Pickup locations at several Santa Rosa hotels. $26 each way; free for children under 12.
Amtrak trains service Oakland/Emeryville and Sacramento along several routes. They use buses to go into Sonoma County. 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).

Sonoma County Transit - Route
60 serves Geyserville and runs daily between Cloverdale, Healdsburg, Windsor,
and Santa Rosa. Many other routes serve Petaluma.
Golden Gate Transit - Serves San
Francisco, Marin County, Petaluma, Santa Rosa.
How to get to Oakland/Berkeley you ask? There is no direct route. You take Golden
Gate Transit to San Rafael in Marin, another bus to Richmond over the bridge,
and then get on BART. Sometimes it's faster to take the same GGT bus past San
Rafael to San Francisco and then get on BART.
We will have some transportation assistance available. If you want to avoid renting a car, let us know. We may be able to arrange for airport pickup and/or shuttle between your hotel and the wedding or other events. And we have some extra cars to loan out too.
